Thank you for submitting your 2026 ECDGA award nomination.
There are two awards. You can nominate multiple people for each award.
- Mark Heaney Award for Awareness. Dr. Heaney was a leading hematologist at Columbia University. He had a powerful and sustained influence on the ECDGA, from the early days of its formation until his untimely passing in 2022. The ECDGA honors his memory and contributions with this award given to a medical professional working to improve the lives of ECD patients by bringing awareness to the disease within the medical profession.
- Community Champion Award for Volunteer Activity. This award will be presented to an ECDGA community member (patient, caregiver, medical professional, friends, etc.) who has volunteered their time to help improve the lives of all those impacted by ECD. These efforts can be of any type - fundraising, awareness, support, etc.
For both awards you will be asked for your name and contact information, the nominee's name and contact information (if known), the nominee position within the community (patient, family, medical professional), which award you are nominating someone for (Mark Heaney or Community Champion), the nominees activities leading to the nomination, and the nominees accomplishments related to those activities.
The deadline for nominations is February 1, 2026.
The award recipient will be announced at the ECD meeting in Birmingham, AL on April 30, 2026. Hope to see you there!
